#HearHim by Remembering His Goodness

by

#HearHIm Weekly is a series of how we hear the Savior’s voice in every day living.

President Russell M Nelson has invited all to follow direction from Heavenly Father, “This is my Beloved Son, Hear Him“.

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for reminders to #HearHim in your daily life.

_____________

This week I listened to Elder Renlund’s talk Consider the Goodness and Greatness of the Lord. The spirit taught me about the importance of remembering this week:

  1. The Prophets have and still do counsel us to Remember the Lord and His Mercy

Elder Renlund first talks about all the times prophets have asked us to remember the Lord. I went back and read all the scriptures he referenced and it’s quite amazing to follow the scripture chain! Very fun to see all the times throughout the Bible and Book of Mormon that the Lord asked His people to remember!

  1. When we remember the goodness of the Lord we are blessed in many ways. Some ways Elder Renlund mentioned are:
  • Our perspective and understanding are enlarged.
  • We become more humble, prayerful, and steadfast.
  • We are more able to fight the temptations for our hearts to wander
  • We qualify for remarkable blessings
  • We become more spiritually receptive
  • We won’t take the Lord for granted
  • Our trust in Them increases
  • Our prayers change
  • We yearn to be more meek, more pure, more steadfast, more Christlike
  • we will communicate our faith more effectively to others
  • We will have courage when confronted with seemingly impossible tasks and circumstances.
  • We will strengthen our resolve to keep the covenants we have made to follow the Savior.
  • We will be filled with the love of God
  • We want to help those in need without being judgmental
  • We love our children and raise them in righteousness
  • We retain a remission of our sins
  • We always rejoice!
  1. Reflecting on Their gifts can and should transform us.

This phrase has been on my mind all week—isn’t life all about transforming our hearts and our souls to become like God? Isn’t it interesting that something as easy as remembering His goodness can transform us?

4. Recording a List of the Goodness of the Lord in My Life

Yesterday morning I was studying my scriptures and praying and decided to make a list of all the times I can remember the Lord being good and kind to me. I easily filled my notebook page and could’ve kept going. Seeing and remembering this list made me feel full, confident, courageous and loved. I felt like there was nothing I couldn’t do in my future and I felt a deep trust and connection with Him. Just by taking time to remember and record.

  1. Elder Renlund’s last thoughts and testimony:

Our Heavenly Father, referring to His Beloved Son, said, Hear Him! As you act on those words and listen to Him, remember, joyfully and reverently, that the Savior loves to restore what you cannot restore; He loves to heal wounds you cannot heal; He loves to fix what has been irreparably broken; He compensates for any unfairness inflicted on you, and He loves to permanently mend even shattered hearts. As I have reflected on gifts from our Heavenly Father and from Jesus Christ, I have come to know of Their infinite love and Their incomprehensible compassion for all Heavenly Father’s children. This knowledge has changed me, and it will change you too. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I heard the voice of the Lord this week by Remembering His Goodness.
