This week I heard the voice of the Lord through music.
Something we do consistently in our home is listen to uplifting and motivating music. We daily listen to spiritual music before and after scripture study. We also turn on favorite spotify playlists during the day. This can be background music, dancing music, singing music, or just something to change the tone of our home.
We moved across the country this week. Moving brings a lot of work, a lot of emotions, a lot of transition, a lot of instability. The beauty of our music routine is we can take it with us anywhere!
This week, as we were moving, we still turned on songs in the car and at places we were staying. It helped us to refocus. It brought some consistency back to our minds and hearts. And yesterday it specifically softened our hearts and helped us to be more patient and long-suffering as we continued our trek across the country.
“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.”-Kahlil Gibran
Have you experienced the power of music in your home? If you haven’t, I encourage you to start today! Create a playlist of some of your family’s favorite songs. Create another playlist of spiritually lifting songs. (This could be on Spotify, youtube, apple music, google music, etc.) Then create habits of when you will listen to your playlists. Show your kids the playlists you made and ask them to contribute. Sometime this week, turn on a fun song and see what happens in your home. Turn on a spiritual song to feed your spirit. Share your playlist with your kids and challenge them to listen to all the songs on their own.
We have the resources to use the power of music in our home. We have the ability to hear the Lord and feel His peace and unifying power through good and uplifting music. Take advantage of this awesome tool.
