We all have busy lives. Lots of roles to fill and tasks or schedules to juggle. Even when we have time to ourselves we are often burnt out and can’t mentally take on anything else.
Last week, with our trek across the country, I tried to stay close to the spirit and continue in daily prayer and scripture study. It’s incredibly difficult to do so when all our routines and familiar places have changed. I didn’t get to counsel with the Lord nearly as often as I wanted.
But the Lord knows us in our weak times. He continues to lend a hand. This week, I saw His hand and heard His voice one night through Kenzie’s prayer.
It was a typical bedtime prayer–I reminded her to say it, she was laying down to say it, she started with all her normal phrases that kids often say– But then she kept going. She prayed for each member of our family, saying something she loves about each person and something she was grateful for with each person. She prayed for our cousin who had surgery last week. She prayed for our country. And she thanked the Lord for the blessings we have been given during this time of change.
My heart was touched and the spirit filled me with peace and confidence as I heard her talk with Heavenly Father.
I’m grateful I took time to lay in her room that night so I could listen to that sweet prayer. I’m grateful my children are learning the things that matter most in life.
I’m grateful the Lord can speak to me through my children.
How have you heard the voice of the Lord through your children? Have you recorded or shared those experiences? I encourage you to write them down today. These are precious moments where we are lifted from earthly cares and can connect with our families and heaven.
